What if your assets change after you sign your Will?

Scenario 1: You do not leave specific major assets as gifts.

If like most people you are leaving your estate in percentage shares and/or dollar amounts only it is advantageous if your assets are NOT listed in the Will.

Why? This means you don’t need to update your Will as your assets change over time.

Scenario 2: You do leave specific major assets as gifts.

If you wish to leave a specific major asset like property to specific beneficiaries and the asset is sold or replaced, your Will must be updated as the former asset is listed in your Will.
